To take a quote from Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Obama is just another politician. Obama signed the $410 billion omnibus bill with 9,000 earmarks or pork costing $6 billion. Being the coward, Obama had no fanfare and signed the bill behind closed doors. Calling it “imperfect,” he broke his promise to the American people that he will end earmarks. Instead Obama said, "Done right, earmarks have given legislators the opportunity to direct federal money to worthy projects that benefit people in their districts. And that's why I've opposed their outright elimination."
This is not the change we were counting on. This is a lie. Obama said that future spending does need tighter restraint. Because he can’t blame Bush, Obama shared blame on Republicans for embracing billions of dollars of earmarks in the legislation. So, two wrongs make a right? I share blame on both sides of the party line, but Obama should be held responsible in signing it into law.
There are no transparencies, no five day review period, and no line-item veto as promised in his campaign. Obama broke his promise as many on the Right have predicted. Now, aren’t you glad you voted for change?
