New York City Imposing a Crash Tax

Statement from the New York Fire Department (NYFD) regarding the Crash Tax

"We want to relieve pressure on the tax payer and place it on those at fault and their insurance. Right now, if you are at fault at an accident or vehicle fire, you get a free ride. And that should not be borne by the tax payer."

In order to keep the NYFD services viable, the following taxes will be levied (anticipating to start July 1, 2011):

-Vehicle Fire/Accident with injury = $490.00
-Vehicle Fire/Accident with no injury = $415.00
-Vehicle Accident only with no fire = $365.00

The idea is one of many idiotic ways to raise revenue for New York City because the Mayor Bloomberg will not fix the budget or cut spending.
